Spring

By Jeanette Rhyan, TX © jrhyan78@gmail.com

The weatherman says a chance of rain

But the sun is shining bright.

The sky is clear, no clouds above

The birds are taking flight.

The weatherman says a chance of rain

Many clouds now hide the sun.

Lightning streaks across the sky

My work today is quickly done.

The weatherman says a chance of rain

The wind is blowing hard.

Sirens are blaring, people are hiding

It’s time to be on guard.

The weatherman says a chance of rain

An F-2 tornado is here.

Breaking branches and golf ball hail

I hide until it’s clear.

Tomorrow the weatherman says a chance of rain

Who can tell if they’re wrong or right?

For now, the clouds are white and fluffy,

And the sun is still shining bright.
